The Siege of Mecca by Yaroslav Trofimov

July 30, 2012

Yesterday, I finished reading The Siege of Mecca by Yaroslav Trofimov. My father recommended the book to me (even provided it for free), but because the book was not about the U.S. Civil War, it has taken me almost a year to make time to read it. My father is better known for his love of horror novels, so I had a suspicion that he might be passing a bad book onto me because he didn’t want to take up his own shelf space with it. I was totally wrong. Trofimov’s book was really interesting – a quick read packed with a great deal of information that I was vaguely aware of but had not previously put together into a coherent narrative.
